New Things in Christ

Ecclesiastes 1:
(9) The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
(10) Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

The earth and the things in it are corrupt. What we see is all going to pass away when God makes all things new more than a thousand years from now (2 Pet. 3:10-13; Rev. 21:1-5). Thank God we don't have to wait that long to experience some new and eternal things. There is nothing new under the sun so we must look above it to the Son of God. Believers are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph. 2:4-7). That's why our conversation is in heaven (Phil. 3:20) and we are to set our affections on things above (Col. 3:1-2).

2 Corinthians 5:
(17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Consider these seven new things we have in Christ:

1. New Birth (Titus 3:5)

2. New Man (Col. 3:10)

3. Newness of Life (Rom. 6:4)

4. New Song (Ps. 40:1-3; Col. 3:16)

5. New Purpose (2 Cor. 5:14-15)

6. New Body (Phil. 3:20-21)

7. New Eternal Destiny (Eph. 2:7)

 

Now, isn't that much better than a new year on this corrupt planet?
