Ecclesiastes 1:
(9) The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
(10) Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
The earth and all the things in it are corrupt. Everything we see is going to pass away when God makes all things new more than a thousand years from now (2 Pet. 3:10-13; Rev. 21:1-5). Thank God we don't have to wait that long to experience some new and eternal things!
There is nothing new under the sun, so we must look above it to the Son of God. Believers are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph. 2:4-7). Our conversation is in heaven (Phil. 3:20), and we are to set our affections on things above (Col. 3:1-2).
2 Corinthians 5:
(17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Seven new things we have in Christ:
1. New Birth (Titus 3:5)
2. New Man (Col. 3:10)
3. Newness of Life (Rom. 6:4)
4. New Song (Ps. 40:1-3; Col. 3:16)
5. New Purpose (2 Cor. 5:14-15)
6. New Body (Phil. 3:20-21)
7. New Eternal Destiny (Eph. 2:7)
Now, isn't that much better than a new year on this corrupt planet?
